I had the remark that we could not put an avatar from the profile there is only the cover photo that we can modify otherwise I have to put it from the administrative panel.
Is there an option that I haven't seen to activate or is it impossible by the profile?

You can change your profile photo/avatar by selecting the small icon next to it on your profile. I have screenshot what mine looks like here for example

If you arent seeing this, check in your group in the admin CP, and ensure you have something set for the profile photo size, and that the "Do not allow photo uploads" is not selected
