CoffeeCake Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 Similar to viewing template changes in comparison to default templates, please consider adding a mechanism to highlight the specific portions of content that have been altered from one revision to the next. For examples, consider the way MediaWiki highlights changes between two selected revisions, or how the template "diff" display works now in ACP. It drives me insane to look at a lengthly piece of content and scroll up and down between the two to sort out what exactly someone decided to revise. Here's an example using Mergely JS library: aia, BankFodder, ptprog and 1 other 2 2
Jordan Miller Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 What if instead it showed a history of the edits versus what words were changed. Thoughts? Maxxius 1

Ahh my bad. I believe in my community we disabled the history part so I'm a bit unfamiliar. Thank you for the clarification 🙏

You might want to go full bells and whistles on a test site to understand what is currently possible with the software; could save you some time at a later point. Jordan Miller 1

Nathan Explosion Posted February 10, 2021 Posted February 10, 2021 Text - no problem at all. But then have to handle all the other elements that can be added to a post...images, links, videos etc. Already regretting taking a look...parking it for another time.
CoffeeCake Posted February 10, 2021 Author Posted February 10, 2021 Here's how it worked in the days of yore:
CoffeeCake Posted February 10, 2021 Author Posted February 10, 2021 Noting that this is a feature of Xenforo. I've got no issue resorting to pointing out competitive gaps 🤓: https://xenforo.com/community/threads/post-edit-history-and-logging.46726/

Heyo! Curious. Why have access to what the previous edit said to compare?
CoffeeCake Posted February 10, 2021 Author Posted February 10, 2021 31 minutes ago, Jordan Invision said: Why have access to what the previous edit said to compare? Bottom line for us, holding moderators and members accountable, and to quickly see what was changed, by whom, and when it was changed. There are many different reasons why we'd want to do this. The edit history setting is one that's configurable per install. It's an item we need and want, and realize that others may not have a need for it. For those that have edit history turned on, it would be nice to be in line with the Jones who use Xenforo and vBulletin and see specific additions/deletions/changes highlighted in an easy to view way between different revisions. Easy fix: disable editing after a few minutes 😄 and forbid mods from editing unnecessarily (with words, obviously, they'll still need to have the permission to do it). then members will have to post a correction, and only the mods will be held accountable. However, that being said.... On 2/10/2021 at 1:17 PM, Nathan Explosion said: *ponders* YES! PLEASE, PLEASE YES!
