Hello,

I want to ask if it's possible to someone allow people to mention someone by simply using @ name rather than having to use the drop down menu as this would be an issue later on when there are many people using similar names.

Yeah you just do it as you would with Twitter - type @ and then wait for the names to appear or just type in their username e.g @Jock3r

I explained why this isnt a preferable way. I want to know if it can be done without the drop down menu.

Type in @ then their username - sorted

You don't have to use the drop down menu just type their username in with the '@' symbol before it (no spaces)

@Sheffielder When I tried that it didnt work.

I just tried it on 2 browser and same thing, you still have to click the username on the menu tab.

@Jock3r there currently isn't a way to do that however there are some plugins that add a "tag" link to the users post that you click and it auto-adds the tag into the post for you. I would recommend that. For the most part though, it sorts it alphabetically so you just have to get to where the name is mostly unique.
