Twitter emoji selector taking a long time to load

When using Twitter emoji, it seems that the emoji selector has to reload every image every time, at a ridiculously slow rate. Is this just something with our configuration or is this the norm?

This is the norm. I had discussed this before, basically IPS replied that this is the best that can be done at the present moment. On each editor load you need to reload all images, yes.

I switched to native emojis because of it. Twitter was taking way too long to load.

That's insane! I don't understand why it would need to be that way.

Here's a project I found that looks similar to what we have that loads instantaneously:

Why can we not implement it like this?

Same here. We use only custom emojis because users have complained about loading time.

It'd be a nice option to have native emoji in the picker and Twitter emoji on the content in the alternative. Not ideal, nor should it be default behavior.
