Why is uploading to downloads so unreliable?

Folks have so much trouble uploading content to my site.

Between the dreaded -200 error, and other "cannot upload" issues it's really getting some folks frustrated.

Each time this comes up someone jumps in and says "it's probably your server settings"

Before we jump right to that again can we consider for a moment that maybe there is something else going on?

For example I offer the following to consider.

• I tested other software on the SAME server, with the same settings and there are no upload issues.
• I know that using IPS with multiple tabs breaks the upload in progress (one issue I figured out)

I wish we could get it working well because frustrated contributors is hurting my business.

I can only recommend submitting a ticket so someone can investigate, particularly if you have a file that the issue is reproducible with. There are so many factors that go into something like uploading that it's all but impossible to give a blanket "x is the cause".
