Posted April 20, 20196 yr I have this site with only content items. I need a way to limit the amout of content items in activity stream! Is this something that IPS would look into?
May 2, 20196 yr Author Could anybody suggest a way to reduce the amount of content items? I have to make stuff up just to reduce the activitystream, and as far as I know there is no way to reduce it. I might be the only one with this problem, but still it is kind of strange that it is not possible to reduce the length of it. I have now 1600 content items a month (without a chance to reduce it), and everyone is looking at this activity stream, but I need only for a couple of days I have asked a developer btw, and he said it is not possible to reduce it.
May 2, 20196 yr I really don’t understand your request. It lists 25 then a button shows up to show more. More 25. 1,600?

May 2, 20196 yr Probably no quick fix for this. Sounds like something to consider for a major release, e.g. 5.0. I guess the items showing there on your site are from a custom app specific to your site(?), but I see the point for every site when it comes to “30 people have changed their profile photo” and the like. It wouldn’t hurt to have a threshold over which such activities are combined instead of shown individually.
May 2, 20196 yr 1. Do you have items from custom app? Check with developer. 2. Disable all those extra items ... Eg. When a new member registers.

Yes this site is only used for people registering summits - they register a summit at the cairn of mountain summits. A custom app. 1 hour ago, Adriano Faria said: You can configure what you want to show in the streams. There would be no point in switching off that information. It is the hole point with the stream. The other users checks what summits the other members are at. @Joel R I have checked with him as mentioned. As I said. I need the information displayed, but need a way to limit it. As of now I have to make some forum posts or that people post pictures in the app, to get som Items. I notice that there is a divider "Last hour", "Last week" "Yesterday", and if I could restrict it to "Last 2 days" it would have been a solution.
May 2, 20196 yr Maybe another solution is to create a separate stream. A stream only for summit climbs. Will that work?

Is there a way to show content like that - in a custom stream? I would still have the same problem, no way to limit it. As far as I have been told there is no way of limiting this information. I have tried other workaround, like using plugin [EPI] Activity Feed Amount, but still I have to have some forumcontent or whatever from the app, to reduce stream. If I have a lot of activity I the page is looong. Thanks for helping out.

As Joel suggested, you might need to separate this type of content from the regular entries. Those “secondary notifications” aren’t really meant to appear in the hundreds in a feed. It shouldn’t be hard to create a custom page for these messages, which could even be designed in a better way than now.

If it is a custom app, then ask the dev to limit the number of entries created by the StreamsItems extension. I use 10, for exemple, in 2 apps I add things there. If I have a lot of activity I the page is looong. Thanks for helping out. I really think you should just move those summit climbs to a second stream. On my community, I have different streams for different apps. For eaxmple, if you're in the Gallery, my menu will show New Images and New Comments. You can do the same thing with your streams and menu. Create a new stream only got summit climbs, and remove them from your main stream. I don't think it's good to limit. If you limit, then people can't go back to see prior successful climbs.
May 3, 20196 yr I forget where it is, but there's a setting in IPS to show how many days back to check for activity. Try that.
