Dilemma: Private/closed clubs and list of club members

Recommended Posts

We have some private clubs that handles vulnerable and private subjects, like AIDS or drugs abuse. These clubs should be only viewed by club members and every new member should be approved by the leader. We have following difficulties:

  • if we create a closed club then everybody can see the list of members in these clubs. We do not want to show WHO is the member of the club because it implies that members have something to do with the topic.
  • if we create a private club then nobody can find the club, users even do not know that these clubs exist on the site. The leaders cannot invite new users as they do not know who can be concerned.

We need a closed club where the list of members is not visible to everybody.

Could you make the clubs private, but link to them from your welcome page?

Nice idea, but private clubs cannot be seen/accessed by other users. If you click on the link to the private club where you are not a member, you get a 404 error.

There is no welcome page for the clubs, just a list of clubs where private clubs are not listed. Sure we can manually create a page where the clubs are listed and edit the list again and again changing titles, owners, leaders and so on. And then ad the link to the page from the clubs start page. But it would be very helpful if we just had an opportunity to create a closed club where member tab is disabled 😉

You can check with the author of Clubs Enhancement to see if he might be able to add a setting to hide / show Member Tab.

I will try, however right now I have no luck in getting any answers from developers in forum. I assume they are all busy with updating their app to 4.4 rather than correct bugs or comment suggestions
