NeedCoffee
Having moved from vBulletin, where reports were posted to a hidden forum (allowing for prefixes, tags, etc.), our moderators are really struggling with the basis nature of the Reported Content section on IPB. For example, their first complaint was that you cannot search it. Also there's no way of seeing who posted the reported content without having to open the actual report - sometimes it's handy for them to see this quickly. It would be great if this area also supported tags/prefixes, so that we could use it to flag reports to certain staff groups (rather than individual moderators) and add other 'flairs' to the report titles. Guessing this area isn't that high on the list of priorities as I imagine there's not many reports on IPB's forums, but on busy forums with thousands of posts, it's a little limiting - if nothing else, a search or better filtering would be great. Not expecting much from posting this, but if you don't ask, you don't get 😀
Jed Rosenzweig
Huh. I never thought of reports generating in a mod-only forum but that sounds like a system with less friction than what we have now. How does it deal with marking reports active vs done? Tags? There's a plugin that turns warns into a per-user topic in a hidden forum but that's obviously not the same thing.
ahc
Yes!! Implementing search in a lot of the modCP lists would be greatly beneficial, not just for reports. We've been waiting on improvements like this to come to reported content, deleted content, and recent warnings. Even on a really slow day, we still receive hundreds of posts and my community never seems to be report-free, and it's a pain having to go back and try to find something even from only a few days ago. Another improvement is a built-in ability to assign a moderator/group of moderators to a report rather than relying solely on tags, similarly to the support ticket system. I know there are plug-ins that do something like it, but this seems like such a necessary addition to the core software and would rather see it implemented that way instead of using unreliable 3rd party content. Keith Ubben
Is there anyway to received notifications of replies to reported posts? On the vBulletin s/w when reports go to a dedicated forum, when done it can be closed, or the last mod just post that issue is resolved. It is very good to have that acting in all ways like a forum, search, etc. This way if someone acts that way again, there is an easy history to see.
