Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
donpetru Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 I don't know if it was invented one such plugin but I think it would be very useful. If there is such a plugin, please let me know. Also, I would like to know how much it costs to develop such a plugin: Compare "Records" from the same database ? Plugin for Pages IPS4. For example, it would help me to compare fields from multiple records in the same database.
opentype Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 Maybe describe a specific example of what you are trying to compare and how it should work. “Compare Records Plugin” is kind of vague.
donpetru Posted November 12, 2018 Author Posted November 12, 2018 Actually I would need a plugin to compare "article fields" from multiple records, from the same database. For example: The articles database contains the following fields: A, B, C, D and E. Also, the same database contains two or more entries, let's say: 1, 2, 3, 4 ... 10. Each record contains the same fields in the same order. Now, I would like to open a new browser window, where to display the table, in two or more columns: record 1, 2 .. in fact, those records that have been selected for comparison. So, now we can see how the same field looks in a record compared to another record. I would like to know if someone can create such a plugin or how you want to tell it. In fact, other web platforms such as Joomla, Wordpress, Magento ... such a plugin is very important and can make a difference in choosing a platform or another. In fact, I think Invision Power should be involved in developing such a plugin !!!
opentype Posted November 12, 2018 Posted November 12, 2018 That wasn’t the “specific” example I asked for. 😉 What kind of content is in your database? What are in those fields A, B, C, D, E? Is it a single word? An YouTube video? A multiple-image upload field? How many records need to compared and displayed next to each other? Only 2 at a time? 5? 20? All those things make a difference in understanding the request and thinking about a possible solution.
donpetru Posted November 12, 2018 Author Posted November 12, 2018 The fields (A, B, C, D, E) to be compared will be "Editor" type and will contain test paragraphs with various features, description ... The number of fields can not be estimated now, but a maximum of 20 fields would be enough. I'm thinking of building a "software" database that contains "review's". So, there are some review articles. These articles may contain several A, B ... fields ("Editor" type) with different software properties to compare. These properties will be recorded in these fields. I hope you understand. Another comparison would be like comparing the features of two PC motherboards.
