On our old version any file available for download would show how many times it was downloaded.  That feature is no longer available.  It was useful to see how specific downloads were being used.  Which were popular and which were not.  We would like to request that be added back in a future release if possible.

Unless you meant on category view perhaps ? This is an older screenshot but it does show category download counters:

 

No, he's talking about file (non image) attachments. The data is still tracked, but not displayed (presently).
