Some users upload massive images (~5MB) for their blog / blog entry "feature photos" and it makes the page that shows recent blog activity clunky and slow to load.

I prevent users from attaching more than 5MB in a single forum post (or blog post), and that same limitation seems to apply to the feature photos.

I have my community set to 5MB per post because that's reasonable if they're attaching 10 or 20 images... but letting them add 5MB feature photos is an unwanted side effect.

Therefore, I wish I could have a custom image size requirement and/or specify custom compression settings for feature photos, rather than having it share the same settings as other images.

+1, this would be really helpful to reduce page load time. 

Or even better, the image schould be resized automatically for the use as feature photo, thumbnail etc.
