Brian Adams_26528 Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 I know how to create certificates, but where in the admincp does one start the process?
Aiwa Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 You don't... Update your conf_global.php file. Update 'board_url' to be https instead of http. This assuming you already have the cert installed on the server. If you're cloud hosted, submit a support ticket.

Brian Adams_26528 Posted March 31, 2018 Author Posted March 31, 2018 Got the cert installed but the user has to enter https:// or it defaults to unsecured. I KNOW I saw a place to force https but I don't recall. Sigh. Don't get old, the said... Seriously, it's been almost a year since I've been in the CP. Isn't there a place to edit all the global this and that and the css...etc.?

Brian Adams_26528 Posted March 31, 2018 Author Posted March 31, 2018 Don't remember how to get to it.
Brian Adams_26528 Posted March 31, 2018 Author Posted March 31, 2018 Resolved. Now back to why facebook broke.

Maurice H. Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 What about external content that users link to posts? For example, a link to a file or image that its source is on http and not https. Won't this break the encryption?
Aiwa Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 There is a setting in the ACP to proxy those with your board URL to ensure those links are https

I wouldn't think so, however this was the setting that came up when searched.
Maurice H. Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 I think this is the safest solution for now unless something more stable pops out. https://invisioncommunity.com/files/file/7510-ssl-image-proxy/

Yes, that's correct. 2 hours ago, Maurice H. said: I think this is the safest solution for now unless something more stable pops out. https://invisioncommunity.com/files/file/7510-ssl-image-proxy/ This functionality is already built into Invision Community, all you need to do is enable the 'Serve images from local server?' in AdminCP > Settings > Posting. It'll even ask you if you want to enable this functionality for existing content.
Tarun Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 @Stuart Silvester Thanks for clarifying. The wording on it made me think it would download the images to my server and then display them. That is, Serve images from local server? When using https and members post remote links to insecure images then this can cause the page to report as insecure in your browser. This setting, when enabled, will cause the image to be retrieved and then served from the local web server over https instead. Whereas the SSL Image Proxy plugin sounds as though it checks the image url, and changes it from http to https if it can.
Maurice H. Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 Unfortunately it is not 100% working. After enabling this option it asked me if I want to convert everything to https. Obviously, I chose yes because I don't want mixed content. It has been about 12 hours and I still get mixed content, even content internal to the IPB. Here is an example: this was OK yesterday and not OK now.

Theme files are not affected by the proxy settings. They are served depending on the site’s general protocol settings, and since those files are cached, the cache needs to be cleared after every change of these settings. If that still doesn’t help, a support ticket would be advised.
Maurice H. Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 Thanks, I will clear cache and wait a while to see if there are any changes
