Some member getting logged out for no reason

I have had this problem also and just discovered why it was happening after upgrading to 4.2.7 from 4.1.9 which made the problem even worse. My board has been active since 2003 and in the earlier days of IPS you had login names and display names which now only display names are used. The members that were having the "issues" were using their old login name as they have always done in the past. Since they are now logging in with their "Display" name all is well. They also reported that they were having to reset their password all the time to gain access to the forum using their old login name.

We are also seeing this on our board. People keep getting logged out for no apparent reason and having to log back in again. It's happening multiple times a day to different people on different networks and machines.

Hello @Genestoy How did you solve it? I have a user who has to reset the password every time he log in. I think it may be related to this.

We are also having this problem.

They will log in as normal.  Once logged in, they'll post, chat and whatever.  Then after a few moments the system will inexplicably log them out.  Now they can't post or chat.

It used to happen to me (the system administrator) but then it stopped doing that.

The system is current on all updates.

It doesn't happen to everyone but it does happen consistently to a few.

Does anyone have a solution?

We have a somewhat similar issue, but it's inconsistent and it's not technically logging them out per say.  Some months it'll happen to multiple people, some months we won't get a single complaint.

On my site, the culprit is the 'Home' button which takes them to the homepage of the website, which for us is a custom page with the pages app set as default.  For some reason, if they click the home button after logging in, it brings them to the page, but makes it seem like it has logged them out and requests that they log in again.  However, if they refresh the page or go somewhere else, they're shown as logged in still.  The only workaround to this is just the page refresh.  It's a little odd, but I can't figure out what's causing it since again, it only happens sporadically and changing the link doesn't fix it instantly.

Caching headers telling the browser to cache the page. Check if the page is configured to be cached in the AdminCP, check Cloudflare or any other CDN caching layers you may have installed, etc.

As for users getting logged out randomly, the only solution I could recommend would be to submit a ticket. We'd need to take a look at your site to determine why it's happening.
