There's an old saying "Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he will eat for a lifetime".

I think that is relevant here in showing you with Google Chrome's Developer Tools (hit F12 or right-click on an element (like the text in your navigation bar) and choose "Inspect Element". Using the pointer tool, select the element and see which CSS classes are associated with the elements you are trying to modify so you can then add that to your custom.css file.

With practice, you can find (and change) almost any element in IPS this way, never having to touch the actual template files.
