crazzzydave Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 Ok, I'll try and explain what I'm after! I run a classic car forum, which forum aside, is based around articles. We have articles (records) which are asigned to either two databases: Members cars Car reviews. For the car reviews, when adding a new record (article) I'd like there to be a kind of default layout for the record. I want to have fields for the following; performance data (eg: 0-60mph, top speed, fuels economy, practicality etc) all set out in a list/grid. what to check for (another list/grid: Exterior, interior, engine, chassis) this would be fields that allow for text to be added I've added an example of what it roughly needs to be layout wise. I will have other site moderators adding reviews so want the database to use a pre determined layout with predetermined things to fill in. Any ideas on how to do this or can this not be done? example template-layout.odt
crazzzydave Posted February 28, 2018 Author Posted February 28, 2018 Further to this, is there a way to create custom field lists? What I'm looking for is something similar to the auto trader website. One field you select the car make from a drop down list, and then that then gives you the next field where you choose the model from a dropdown list that is linked to the make? So for example, Makes: Ford Vauxhall Toyota Mazda Choosing Mazda would give a list similar to the following: Model: MX5 MX3 6 323 etc Choosing "Ford" would show a dropdown list similar to the following: Model Escort Cortina Capri Focus Explorer Mustang etc Is there a way in pages to configure lists to do this?

By hiring a designer who knows HTML/CSS/PHP and the template framework of IPS 4.x. 8 minutes ago, crazzzydave said: Further to this, is there a way to create custom field lists? That is not possible out of the box. You would have to work around that, e.g. by combining makers and models into one field with many options or by having different fields for each maker and then make only the right field available per maker category.

Ah, kinda thought that it wouldn't be possible but hoped there was an easy way to do it. Might have to give that a miss then as I imagine that the cost for hiring a designer to do this would probably be very high?

Conditional fields are not possible out-of-the-box with IPS.
