kihon Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 After switching from HTTP to HTTPS embedding from Instagram and youtube doesn't work. Any suggestions how to resolve this?
Nathan Explosion Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 Are you trying to embed the http or https version a YouTube or instagram url? You might want to check the developer console in the browser to see what is happening when you paste the url.
Aiwa Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 Indeed. Chrome pushed an update a couple months ago that enforced strict standards on sites running HTTPS with mixed content. The non-secure content is removed from the page in many cases.
kihon Posted February 12, 2018 Author Posted February 12, 2018 Such a pain. I used to be able to just copy and link the youtube or instagram URL and insert it into the post and it would automatically show up. After the https switch, the automatic embedding doesn't work. The URL shows as https from both IG and Youtube but it doesn't embed. This is a problem for our community because a lot of the content is cross referenced from IG.
opentype Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 It should work. If you can’t identify the problem yourself (e.g. by using the browser error console), open a ticket with IPS with test URLs they can try out on your site. Shouldn’t be too hard to resolve.
Aiwa Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 I guess the questions here.. 1) Is it only broken for OLD content? 2) Will it embed for NEW content when you're certain you're pasting HTTPS urls for Instagram and YouTube? Try running the Support Tool.... ACP > Support > Something Isn't Working.... See if that fixes anything.
kihon Posted February 12, 2018 Author Posted February 12, 2018 It was not broken for old content, only new links being posted. It works now just like it did before. Still not quite sure what it was but works now. Thank you all for your suggestions and help!
