About This File

This resource restores a feature from IP.Board 3.4 and will allow topic starters and members from selected groups to set a post as best answer of a topic from DISCUSSIONS forums.

Badges: Topics set as RESOLVED will have badges accross the suite, in places like:

• Topic view
• Forum view
• Search results and Activity Streams
• Profiles (Activity Streams and Browse Content -> Topics and Posts)
• Followed Content
• Leaderboard -> Popular Content
• Etc.

Settings:

• Topic starter can set/unset topic as Answered?
• Lock topic when set a best anwser?
• Unock topic when unset a best anwser?
• Groups allowed to set topics as Answered
• EXCLUDE Forums

Notification:

• A post I made is set as best answer of a topic

Widget:

• Latest Best Answers, linking topic title to the best answer post.

 

 

Is the Best Answer flag stored in the same way as in the native Q&A forum function? So can I switch between the two at any time without loosing previous best answers?

Yes, same column on forums_topics table. 

It didn't lose on conversion from 3.4 to 4.X. Let me test by simply editing the forum type and I'll let you know.

Same way. Clubs uses the “discussion “ forum type so no problem.

I see on the description that we can exclude forums, can we also exclude clubs?

No.

This gets activated for every forum except the ones one manually excludes. Unfortunately, this setup activates it for every club forum, without an option to turn it off, since club forums aren’t available in the plugin settings. 

Can you maybe do something about that?

What's New in Version 1.0.1:

• Added support to Clubs

@Adriano Faria is there a way to customize the spacing of the badge before the topic title? It runs right up against it.

Also, we have noticed that the default theme seems to disable Best Answers.

It uses prefix + space + badge + title. 

I’ll take a look in default theme. I only use this theme and always worked. 

Working as expected in default theme, which is the only I use:

I suggest you to run the support tool to rebuild the cache.

Are the "old" solved-markers migrated from 3.4.x to 4.2.x to be used by this Plugin?

So am I losing anything when upgrading and using this AddOn?

Yes, posts marked as best answers on 3.4 will still be set as best answer with this plugin on 4.2 in Discussion forums.

Excellent - purchased

Threads are marked as solved perfectly, but within a topic the post isn't marked - so it is not viewable which post is the one with the best answer.

Any idea what is going wrong?

Tested now on 4.2.7:

Are you using default theme? If not, then please try on it. If it works, will be clear that you have a theme issue.

It is theme independent, just tested on default theme. I migrated from 3.4.2 to 4.2.6, upgraded to 4.2.7.

When clicking on the answered-marker it takes to me to the right post, just doesn't show up as being the proper post.

Worked on default theme?

No, doesn't work:

- shows the "answered"-Marker in the topic view
- takes me to the best answer marked post
- post itself doesn't show any marker or sign, that it is the best answer in that topic
