So I added the widget but I can't create a status. (Even when I go to create on the top, I can create a topic but not a status.) I used to visit a forum that used IPB 4.1 that had the feature working fine. Is there a minimum amount of days someone has to be a member to post a status? I mean I am the admin so I should be able to.

Go to your ACP then go to > Members > Profiles > Settings > check if status update is enable

Thanks for the reply, checked that earlier and it actually is enabled. I also tried to download this plugin hoping that it would work but nothing changed.

 

Go to your public profile > Edit > Check "enable status update"

Ok so I went into the admin cp>members>specific member>restrictions and enabled it. Do I have to do this for every member who joins? Is there no way for it to be automatically enabled without me having to go into each members profile to enable it?

NO, it was disable only for me too. I think the first account in the forum had this disable. I don't know why, but I had the same issue as you. 
Other members, and future members have this automaticly enable

Ughh, I made a second account and it was disabled for the second account too. This is so confusing, hopefully with more members joining it unlocks for everyone lol. Thanks.

lol it's enabled there too, maybe it got enabled when the 2 people registered? Idk this is pretty confusing lmao. Hopefully it works from now on.

Im pretty sure that the status update feature is disabled for everyone by default. If a member wants to use it then they will have to enable it for themselves
