Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted March 9, 20178 yr Hello, As much as possible i do not want anyone to know my server's password. and the support staff says they cannot help me with my situation unless i give them access. the only problem i am encountering is HTTP 500 error with a blank page, upon accessing /admin/install this is frustrating me, is IPS Board really this hard to install? Someone please tell me giving passwords to staff of IPS is okay. Thanks
March 9, 20178 yr Yes. This is one of the standard pieces of information that all self-hosted license owners provide to IPS. If it makes you feel any better, IPS already has your real name, billing address, PayPal account, credit card information, email, password, IP address, and your mother's maiden name if you filled out security questions.
March 9, 20178 yr We don't need or want your server password to be clear, all we need is an admin login to your site and FTP access, which is not your servers password, you should have proper security/setup on your host in which would allow you to create a temp ftp account restricted to your forums directory if needed. Thank you

March 10, 20178 yr You really have to check the errorlogs of PHP and your webserver - Error 500 can be caused by a wide range of reasonss. Feel free to post them here... Without them, no one will be able to help because of the wide range of reasons.
