Posted February 23, 20178 yr Hi guys, Would you consider an option to the tagging system where users can add tags when they tag something and then those tags are automatically added to the globally defined tag list so the same tags show up for other users as well? It could be a switch that can be turned on in the Tags settings in the ACP, or maybe a setting per Member Group where only certain members are allowed to have their tags added. Thanks Adam

Thanks Adam How is your idea different from the open tag system that's already built-in?
February 24, 20178 yr Author My idea is that the open tag system constantly expands as people add new tags. For example. As admin, you might setup the tag system to be open and define 5 tags of "house", "hiphop", "trap", "drum & bass", "trance". A member comes along and makes a post and tags their post with "garage". When the post is saved, the system recognises that its not a tag in the existing list, so it adds it to the list. Now the tag system has six defined tags: "house", "hiphop", "trap", "drum & bass", "trance", and "garage". Make sense?
March 1, 20178 yr That's an interesting idea. I think it might also be good to allow Moderators and Administrators to, say, drag and drop or otherwise add a tag to the globally-defined tag list if they feel it's important enough.

Yeah, the moderator option is a good idea too. I originally thought it could be an option that could be turned on in the back end, to allow user additions to the tagging system. Adding moderator control in the moderator console would be even better, allowing moderators to manage / remove global tags. In the ACP, this could also be a setting where Admins can specify whether moderators have the power to manage the global tags
