Language permission

Hi,

I would like to have only one language on front-end for my site.
So I deactivated the english language on ACP > Customization > Languages > English > Disable
But sometimes I need english language on ACP (to find terms or to take screenshot in english for support here for example).

Is it possible to allow english language only for Admin ?

I don't want guest or others members could choose this language. I don't want google index the english language too (it will make duplicate language : french content with french menu and same french content with english menu : very bad)

hello  @EricT i think you did it the wrong way.

in the language settings you can choose if you use this language in  the admin CP.

so i think you should enable the english,  go to the edit button,  and find the setting that sets this as the default english language of  the ADMIN CP.

the language you want for the users,  this you will to there and undo uncheck  the same setting for admin cp since you dont want that there.

there is a setting that makes a language default, you dont have to deactivate english to achieve that.

i am not a seo specialist so i am not commenting on the assumption you made about the language and seo because i think its more complicated.

if you want the default user language  to be french, you go to the languages and DRAG the french upwards so that it appears first in the language order.

(i discovered that somehow)

if you want guests (not logged in users) to see french first then thats another thing, there is a plugin for that, that many have said should be core feature.

me too I have greek as main language of forum and i dont want english to appear unless some one chooses it to appear in the language setting.

havent done the language plugin yet because i have other problems right now but maybe will.  you can find it in the marketplace, something with  "default language for guests "

I think IPS core detect the user language (browser settings). So no problem about this I think

No, I want guest cannot choose in any way the english langage.

What I would like :

AdminCP in english by default
Front end always in french for all user (guest and members) and without the ability to detect or select the english language

well then you ll have to use the plugin i mentioned.  this is it  i found it.

if you dont do it, the ips from what i read will detect the language for guests on its own.

for registered users there is definitely a setting  to make them unable to choose between languages, you can ask at the support if you dont find it, i dont remember where it is unfortunately  - am a new user too..!
