DG-Ex
Hi, sorry if this has been asked however i tried searching and couldn't find anything. How can I restrict admins to only be able to give members/other lower admins a select few groups. For example A hierarchy of Mod > Admin > Core Admin > Community Leader > Founder I want the community leader to be able to add "admin" to "core admin" but not be able to add them to "founder" or "community leader" I thought this was an automatic setting depending on what powers the groups have but it turns out the Community Leaders can add themselves to founder and core admin can add to founder too, Thanks

Nathan Explosion
Not much we can do...an administrator is an administrator is an administrator. Cascaded group permissions doesn't exist. Pop a request in the product feedback forum to ask for this functionality to be added in a future release.

I know it can be done as a community I was in before could do it. Theres no way that someone in a group can just give themselves director/ founder. :L

I don't see any option on adminstrative accounts that allow filtering down of the groups that the admin account can move users to....it's just the below: Based on those options, an administrator can move any member account (normal or moderator or admin) into other groups (be they normal or admin) Possible that the other community is using a modification for IPS4? Possibly... It's not around anymore to ask though. Maybe they had custom scripts or something?
Nathan Explosion
Yep, most likely I expect. I honestly don't see anything in the default settings of a group that allows that functuonality - and just tested it out on a test site. "Administrators" group (default) Created new group "Test Admin" and set it up as an administrative group. Added "user 1" to the "Test Admin" account, and logged in to the ACP as "user 1" - edited a different account ("user 2") and I can add that user to the 'Administrators" group. I agree with your requirement - some form of cascading should be allowed here. The "Move members into admin groups" should have some form of field that allows you to restrict what admin groups that a member can be moved to.
