Is there a way to send an automated email to our forum users with information on the top threads of the month? Ideally I'd like to integrate that into MailChimp and use our templates and lists there.

No, I'm not. I use the internal bulk mail.

I might have a plugin developed for myself. If I do I'll extend it to have the functionality to email just through IPB too. I'll get a few quotes and post back.
