Removing Ability to Search an Application

Hello,

 How would an individual go about removing the ability to search an application from both the quick search and advanced search? I don't think I've missed a setting anywhere and I assume there's going to be a few files that need edited. I need to do this on a third party app (iAwards), but I think this isn't really an application specific question, hence posting here rather than support for the specific app...It may be useful to know how to do it for any application. If this is something application specific, I can post there instead, even though the developer doesn't seem too active at the moment.
