Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted July 22, 20168 yr Hi all, Any recommendations on how to manage these. We are a new forum and have some nasty people joining just to post horrible things and almost all sign on from disposable email accounts.
July 22, 20168 yr unfortunately the developer removed email whitelist feature from 3.x so ips shoved us with manual labor to validate each new registrant. We have this issue too with alot of trolls who use disposable emails. These temporary email service register new domains monthly basis so its impossible to blacklist every email manually... If we had whitelist feature and only allow specified email we wouldnt waste tons of hours manually validating members and see if their emails are real or not.
July 22, 20168 yr Author Thanks for the advice. It is only one or two for us at the moment but if it steps up then we may have to change the registration process then to include admin verification. Shame.
July 22, 20168 yr Author hmmm. How do you add disposible email accounts to the 'ban filter' This could work for us being still quite new and small?
July 22, 20168 yr admincp, member, ban settings, you then add banfilter for a specific email *@disposableemail.com but the problem is that these companies know forum boards ban these domains which is why they keep registerin new domains all the time. so it become inredibly tedious for webmasters to add new ban filter almost daily
July 22, 20168 yr Author Sounds like a right pain. That other plug in looks a bit complicated though.
July 22, 20168 yr its not complicated at all. you just install the plugin. tick enable for disposable email and you are done
July 24, 20168 yr Author While we are still small I may use these idiots as a way for our admin and moderators to practice their moderation skills. If it gets to out of hand then I will give that Autoit a go. Have you installed it yet?
