Remove side bar in pages and give block a background color

Hi there. Just wondering if there is a setting or easy way to get rid of the sidebar in pages. The page I'm working on doesn't need a side bar, but even if I put nothing (wigets/blocks) in the side bar, it seems to still be there but just a blank space to the right of my main block (the car image one with pointers on it)? I'm using a 2 column layout for the page, which can be viewed here >> https://civic5.com/forum/honda-civic-buyers-guide/

The other thing I noticed is when I create a block (even with just an image in it) it seems to put a border round it. Anyway I can get rid of the line around the outside of a block? If you look at the main block with the car photo in it, you'll see what i mean.

Lastly, how do I add a background colour or image to a block?

Would love to get these small niggles sorted if poss.

Thanks

Dave

Ok, have sussed the above problem, just go to source when the image has been added to the block, then remove the "_thumbnailed" from the code. Just the other problem I need help with now. :-)

I've managed to stop the main image being thrown to the side by adding this to the code;  <div style="text-align: center;">
    <img alt="Buyers_guide_header_image1.png"

Bit when on the front end, and I click the page editor open, there is still the sidebar on the right side?

Removing the blocks all together from the sidebar is supposed to remove or collapse the sidebar so it's not seen. If you're still seeing the sidebar after confirming you have no used or un-used blocks in the sidebar, submit a bug report for this would be my suggestion. You can alternatively submit a support ticket for that issue also. I'd include which pages template is the issue or if it's all of them. Single, double or 3 column for example. Is it a template created automatically when you created a database?

I can;t locally reproduce your issue however myself. The blocks remove fine for myself.
