And a forum needs a container – it can’t be set to appear directly at the top level – that’s what this error message is saying. You need to create a forum INSIDE the top-level category, not turn the top-level category into a forum. That can’t work. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Also, you get the following in the index of categories/forums in the ACP: And you get this when you click 'Edit as forum' from the edit dropdown, you see this: If you have been able to do this on 3.4 then I'd love to know the steps as it's something I would like to play around with.
