I'm a newbie trying to figure out IPB. When I upload my logo it appears huge on the site but I can't find a place to reduce it's size. Do I need to remake the logo in a different size and then upload that?

Do most people use a skin/theme? Or is the standard sufficient for most?

Yes remake the logo to the size you require, depends on what you want your forums to look like as to if you want a theme or not, with IP4.x you can customise the existing theme for colours and other stuff very easily.
