Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted November 12, 20159 yr Hi when users sign into my site on a computer they are remembered so next time when they visit they are already logged in. However, when on a tablet/ mobile device it doesn't seem to remember if a user is logged in and so users have to log in each time. This is frustrating my users, so is there are way to fix? Thanks
November 20, 20159 yr Author Does this happen for other people where the site doesn't remember people on iPhone and they have to log in every time? really hoping there is a way to fix this
November 20, 20159 yr I have similar experiences, I haven't been able to test it yet and would report it once I had.
November 21, 20159 yr Author i have had users report back that they stayed logged in on Sony Xperia phones and also Windows phones, but not iPhones. Not sure what the issue is. I have an iPhone and i have to log back in every single time, so i can confirm the issues that my members on iPhones are experiencing.
November 22, 20159 yr Author surely others would know if people are having issues with iPhones as well?
November 22, 20159 yr Works fine for me on my site. Have you asked them to try clearing their cookies? I do have a minor issue on this site tho, if I use browser back out of any topic it logs me out, reload the page and I'm back in
November 23, 20159 yr Author on an iPhone? i use an iPhone and i cannot remain signed in on the community.invisionpower.com site or my own IPS site. other iPhone users on my site are experiencing the same issue.....
November 23, 20159 yr You guys have mentioned iOS devices here - but get a bit more detail going....what browser are you using on the devices? Does it happen in all browsers, or just one?

November 29, 20159 yr Author ok, i have tested and yes i works on Chrome but not on Safari. Is there a way to fix on Safari?
November 29, 20159 yr I believe you're hitting a long standing issue with Safari - it has a habit of losing cookies and thus logging people out of websites (any site, not just IPS sites) A quick google search will show up several issues over the past few years (facebook appears to be a popular concern) and there are several 'fixes' and 'workarounds' on them that you could try out.
November 29, 20159 yr Author actually that got me googling. it turns out i think it comes down to me, and probably my users, using safari in 'private' mode such that cookies weren't being saved. if this is the issue, sorry for wasting everyone's time, highly embarrassed
