Invision Community 5: A video walkthrough creating a custom theme and homepage By Matt Thursday at 04:02 PM
AutoItScript Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 It's still too hard to click on the unread content circle in an activity stream without clicking on the author avatar or the topic title. On an iPad it's a 50/50 success rate. Also, shouldn't the title take you to the last unread post (or last post if none unread) anyway like it does from all the other links on the forum? For example, clicking a title on a thread on the forum index takes you to the last unread. If activity stream followed that convention then it wouldn't be a problem that the unread circle was difficult to click.
Marius Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 One option is that the unread circle to be positioned at the end of topic title in activity stream. In this way would be far from author avatar.
tekguru Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Imagine if one works with opening the link in a new tab, extremely difficult to hit it!
chilihead Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 I agree it should be easier. 9 hours ago, AutoItScript said: Also, shouldn't the title take you to the last unread post (or last post if none unread) anyway like it does from all the other links on the forum? Not every topic is something someone cares to read in entirety. And some people don't log on much and are brought to the middle when they expected to go to where they clicked... the post that was just made. That's the action that bumped it, and in "Content items, comments, and reviews" each post is listed individually, so clicking the title should take you there, as it does. It would really only benefit users that read every post, and only certain posts, where they are following a particular conversation. So it doesn't make sense to do that globally. But I'm sure you could code it to do that.
AutoItScript Posted October 3, 2015 Author Posted October 3, 2015 I've never wanted to go to the last post in a thread. I either want the first post, or the last post I've not read. That's what all the links in other parts of the forum do.
chilihead Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 That's what the dot is for and yes I agree, a lot of people don't know what it is and it's hard to click. 7 minutes ago, AutoItScript said: That's what all the links in other parts of the forum do. What links? In the forum the title goes to the start and the dot is still unread.
AutoItScript Posted October 3, 2015 Author Posted October 3, 2015 On the board index at https://community.invisionpower.co If you look at the last topic info on the right the link is a "do=getNewComment" type so it goes to the last unread. On the sub-forum "Product Feedback" this is different and goes to the first topic. Then in other places and streams topic titles goto the last post, clicking on the time like "29 minutes ago" also takes you to the last unread. It's all over the place. Anyway, this is completely off track. What remains is the circle is too hard to click on streams. On the forum view and the old View New Content view it had a decent amount of padding.
chilihead Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 The clock/time always goes to the post made at that time, not unread, and so does last post column of forum home so not sure what you mean. The dot is unread. But yes, could be improved.
AutoItScript Posted October 3, 2015 Author Posted October 3, 2015 Nvm, I'm wasting valuable saturday drinking time.
