Management Charles Posted September 16, 2015 Management Share Posted September 16, 2015 Not sure if some of you noticed but we put the menu tabs up top on a diet today. Before: After: The menus are much more compact now and I personally think a lot easier to read since they take up so much less space. Also allows for more menu options in there. I made a very quick video on the Menu Manager to help everyone visualize it until we get the release out. I didn't think it worthy of a full blog entry so here you go. Let me know if you any other questions!

Vikestart
You really need to do something about that terrible pink bubble for the chat user count.

Vikestart
The text on the inactive tabs also look a bit odd. Something doesn't feel right, I think the bright text on a dark blue background is at fault. Perhaps tone those down a bit. Also, does the Menu Manager allow you to get rid of the hover effect and use a menu setup more similar to IPS 4.0.x? If you don't have a second-level menu, there's no reason to have it change active tab on hover.

GrooveOnBeat
While the multi-Tabs is a good idea I'd rather see the child tabs row hidden and only appear when a tab is clicked. When there is no child tabs it's an empty space and when there are child tabs it looks cluttered against the breadcrumbs. Good idea, but the design needs work. This would cause the content below the menu to be pushed up and down.... ....unless you make the sub-menu overlap the area below. Not sure if that's a good idea. I like the current approach, even though I probably won't be using the second-level menu myself (will be using dropdowns).

Since it's only relative to the parent it will ignore other containers and overlap existing content. It won't push any content up or down or left or right. Management Charles Posted September 17, 2015 Author Management Share Posted September 17, 2015 We tried the auto-hide approach and like Vikestart said it was kind of distracting having the menu appear and disappear.

I agree that the auto-hide is distracting, but I wasn't referring to that. My suggestion was an on-click method to open and close child tabs. It's the same method IPB generally uses for their menus.
