Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted September 15, 20159 yr Would it be possible to add the website name/title information into the notification? I use several sites that have IPB4.0 now and will end up having 4.1 soon too (as will my own 3.4.8 site eventually) The addition of the site name to the notification would help identify whether I really want to click on the notification or not.
September 15, 20159 yr Author Interesting - I'm not seeing that on mine. Off to do a little bit o' browser testing!!! If that can easily be replaced with site name/title then perfect.
September 15, 20159 yr Management We can look into that yes. Unfortunately, as @Tripp_UK pointed out, it's not consistent across browsers.

September 15, 20159 yr Management In other news: I love the new notification system. I find myself reading things more often and more quickly which is the entire point of any community.
September 15, 20159 yr I like the idea. I think a top level menu with "Unread items" will go down well on my forum. Anyone else feel the content title and the who/when/where subtitles are the wrong way around? The who/when/where is fairly irrelevant and it seems to be jumping in my face in the current style Edit: Oops, this should have been in the activity stream thread. I got lost in my clicking
September 15, 20159 yr Chrome's browser notifications are awesome. They're mediocre in all other browsers. The solution is to convert to Chrome!

September 15, 20159 yr Community Expert If it requires Chrome, then it's another feature I won't use.

September 15, 20159 yr It doesn't, other browsers have desktop notifications, but they're extremely basic implementations. Chrome just has the best support for them by far.

Unfortunately we're stuck with how they show things but either way the whole idea of getting a little notification is really handy.
September 15, 20159 yr Please tell me there is a way to mute the sounds when new replies pop up in the topic, I don't know if you have sounds for other instant notifications as well but if you do please please tell me there is a way to get rid of these somehow or it will drive me insane.

If you are using Windows 10 you can mute this or any sound effects in your sound settings. Just click on the speaker in your task bar.

Right now there isn't, but we could look at having a toggle in the control panel if there's enough demand.
September 16, 20159 yr This is something that I also wish could just be implemented and configured in the browser API (notification sounds), but not even Chrome's notifications support that I believe. Anyways, I would support that as a toggleable option. I can see it being potentially annoying.

September 16, 20159 yr I actually prefer Opera now myself. Which is now built on Blink. So essentially still Chrome. But better!
September 16, 20159 yr Just a question. Is the new notifications system a good way to remove tapatalk in your opinion? I would like to convert users from it to the mobile version of my forum but they love live notifications they actually get on smartphone..
