Posted July 24, 20159 yr I think IPS should include a default "dark" version of the stock theme for those who prefer white on black. Here are some reasons I think this would be a good inclusion: It would be decently simple to create and easy to update along with the white version. It makes it much easier for marketplace developers to make a dark theme, having a pre-existing design they can work from It makes sites easier to use for people who have trouble with bright screens. Black themes are awesome.
July 24, 20159 yr Author It's ridiculously easy to do this in the built in Theme editor. Not really. There's quite a few important elements which are not able to be styled with it. Plus, then I'd have to figure out all the right colors to look nice
July 24, 20159 yr Exactly, i once tried creating a dark theme, its not possible with the theme editor without including custom css.As example the main wraper with the color #FFF is not styleable and changeable, which makes it impossible to create a dark theme...
July 24, 20159 yr I certainly don't think white on black is pretty at all but I neither support or don't support this. I'm sure this can be pretty easily done. I mean there are plenty of dark themes out there (I made one).

July 25, 20159 yr I created a semi-dark theme and there were some inconsistencies in styling. Especially in the different forms. Some used .ipsBox, etc., some didn't. The ones that didn't use the usual CSS for forms had to use extra CSS to style accordingly.

I attempted to create a dark theme myself and a lot of elements in the suite use custom CSS or otherwise don't follow the framework elements so they are a bit annoying to style - but I think if IPS attempted to make a dark theme, they'd realise and standardise those things!
July 25, 20159 yr Having a dark themed website, it required custom css, even attempting it with the theme editor was a nightmare.
