Kirill N Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 I really respect IPS4 for all the hard work they do on this software and I try my best not to post angry messages every time I upgrade and plenty of things break but this is unbelievable. After upgrading to 4.0.10, users are not able to open long personal messages and get an EX error. Support response?"Very long PM conversations is not something to product was originally designed to do. We will look into it in a future release but for now please just advise users to start a new conversation."I couldn't believe this response was even real. Somehow long personal messages weren't a problem in any release prior to 4.0.10, and suddenly, the software is not designed for long conversations?Anyway, if anyone who has a large forum is wondering if they should upgrade to 4.0 -- my advice is -- don't.
Management Charles Posted July 16, 2015 Management Posted July 16, 2015 I told you twice in your ticket we are going to look into it. My point is simply that, until we do, it's better to tell your users not to do that than to just sit there with site issues
ehku Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Anyway, if anyone who has a large forum is wondering if they should upgrade to 4.0 -- my advice is -- don't. Any other issues, apart from that PM one? I'm still hesitating to upgrade
Management Charles Posted July 16, 2015 Management Posted July 16, 2015 Kirill N finds issues no one else does
Kirill N Posted July 16, 2015 Author Posted July 16, 2015 I told you twice in your ticket we are going to look into it. My point is simply that, until we do, it's better to tell your users not to do that than to just sit there with site issues I understand, but you said that you will look into it "in a future release" and put my ticket on hold. This is quite a serious issue (especially considering that the messenger produces tons of errors and can put the site offline), so I expected someone to patch my site rather than wait days/weeks for the next release. Kirill N finds issues no one else does That's a good thing, right?
Management Charles Posted July 16, 2015 Management Posted July 16, 2015 Perhaps I should have been more clear. All I meant was that, until we have a fix, you should take some temporary action to keep your site from going offline when it's a simple thing to avoid while we work on a fix.

I misunderstood you because you changed the status of my ticket to "Awaiting Customer Action" when normally tickets stay "Open" when an issue is being investigated.
Morrigan Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 How many PMs are these conversation? I think I want to start a PM war on my site. @Charles
Kirill N Posted July 16, 2015 Author Posted July 16, 2015 How many PMs are these conversation? I think I want to start a PM war on my site. @Charles This happens with any conversation that has over 1000 responses.
W4L Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 thanks for the heads up another reason not to update to 4.0.10 i want the performance improvements but the bugs outweigh that imo
Morrigan Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 This happens with any conversation that has over 1000 responses.Holy cow! O_O I don't think I've had a PM over 50.... This will take inviting a lot of members.... But there is no likes in PMs. This will be difficult.
Kenni Nielsen Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Some of my users have the same problem as @Kirill N describe here. It also only happen to users with over 1000 responses.
Management Matt Posted July 20, 2015 Management Posted July 20, 2015 This has already been fixed for the next version.
tAPir Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 and there's a fix in the knowledge base if you can't wait.
