W4L Posted June 9, 2015 Share Posted June 9, 2015 hi all was wondering if anyone is running sphinx on ipb 4.0+ ?if so does it iimprove the search results ?my search sucks so bad it cant even find a number .would love to here how it works and if possible how to get it running on a centos 6 dedicated server running whm/cpanelthanks all. nylyon Posted June 9, 2015 Share Posted June 9, 2015 I am using Sphinx. I do not use it because of performance, but functionality since my forum contains a lot of hyphenated names. Sphinx is not installable through Cpanel, so you'll have to install it manually. Finally, all 4.0 releases to current have a Sphinx bug which corrupt the search index when the datastore area is cleared. 4.0.8 is supposed to contain the fix (my site was patched) so you may want to wait until then to implement Sphinx.
