Hi,

not really the site itself, but i have a new section: a custom designed Wiki i developed on IP Pages.

It's a wiki for musicians, with two types of articles: a dictionary and tutorials. You can have a look at it:

He did it himself from the default IPS theme. I've asked him in the past. He's a CSS guru. This was the response:

It's actually much more simple than that. The homepage is the forums application, just like the homepage of this site. The feed of 5 news stories is a "Record feed" widget. Then, it's the regular forum list, just very heavily modified with html/css. I haven't made any php modifications, I only edited the html and css templates.

That looks beautiful. Well done!

It needs some work for your Noite theme, though.

Yes, the noite theme is going to be dumped soon. Too much work keeping two themes if you have a customized site!

I've used default pages. Just set up 2 databases (1 for dictionary and 1 for tutorials). Created a common page (wiki) which is the home. Then, created the blocks (search boxes defaulted for each database), and the blocks (comments, last changes, etc). Some of these boxes need to get data from both databases, so you have to do the queries manually.

Then, for each database, design the templates as you wish. Heavy CSS templating and Some small JS to improve appearance on severl types of viewports. For example, it would be not good to have all the dictionary letters showing up even if you have no words starting by that letters, so you need to program the listing template accordingly. So as people start creating new entries, the corresponding letter category will appear automatically.

All members can edit it which is not a big deal as the revisions are kept, in case someone screws up anything.

This is really, really well done - amazing what can be done with the software out of the box!

Thank you. IP Pages is, in my opinion, the best App in the IPS package. It has a somewhat steep learning curve regarding its philosophy, but it is well worth.

Well done! Mind sharing what you did to make a forum the homepage of your site?

If you fiddle with the structure of forums, categories in the ACP etc you should be able to achieve what you want. <-- that is if you have multiple forums and want a forum as a homepage!

Is it that bad? It loaded perfectly fine here.  Mine is not better.

Unless you spend your time optimizing the images, doing these crazy things to satisfy google, there's no way to get good marks. It's better to have nice content and have a populated forum, i guess.

Yes, speed is bad. Attracting design and content I see and like;)

And why? Because all developers create cumbersome products?
This is the most popular web test.
Or should put a link from others web servers test to see how clumsily moving site ... and who is a comic?
