Invision Community 5: A video walkthrough creating a custom theme and homepage By Matt Thursday at 04:02 PM
ehku Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 After upgrading from 3.4.7 to 4.0 RC3, Unicode topic titles of my forum are not displayed correctly: I remember that somebody already experienced this problem and posted a question on this forum but could not find the post. Any ideas to fix this please?
Mr.Jake Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 I would be also interested how to fix this.Just upgraded my test install from 3.4.7 to 4.0 RC3 and i'm having exactly same problem.Finnish language forums so i'm only missing Ä and Ö in all posts, topic titles and descriptions.Edit: Noticed that user group names are messed up. I have "Users" user group modified to Finnish "Käyttäjät" name and it's showing incorrectly also.
ehku Posted February 26, 2015 Author Posted February 26, 2015 @@Mr.Jake: then please submit a ticket, there might be a bug.
ehku Posted March 2, 2015 Author Posted March 2, 2015 This is actually a bug of IPS UTF8 Database Converter (by @Matt ?). I tried converting my database on 3.4.7 to UTF-8 using the latest version of the converter, and got the same problem. There's nothing to do with 4.0. This is a serious problem for me

ehku Posted March 2, 2015 Author Posted March 2, 2015 Please submit a ticket so I may take a look.Hi @Ryan Ashbrook. I posted here just to let the others (who may have the same problem) know, but before that I had already added a reply to my ticket (that you are in charge of). Thanks.
Octavian Dima Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Hello, I reported this a week ago, they fixed it.http://community.invisionpower.com/4bugtrack/rc-3-diacritics-problem-after-converting-r3427/
Mr.Jake Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Did they also fix the converter? Cos i used the converter to mess up my database. Or does the 4.0 Upgrade convert it again during upgrade?
Octavian Dima Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Sincerely I don't know ... You can ask @Mark.
Mr.Jake Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Sincerely I don't know ... You can ask @Mark. Ok. Thanks
Mr.Jake Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 RC4 didn't fix the issue.Made new test install of my live board (Works well and shows all ÄÄÄ and ÖÖÖ correctly) and then upgraded it to 4.0 RC4 and same thing happens again. If i create topic or anything on that RC4 all ÄÄÄ and ÖÖÖ shows correctly. It's just the upgrade process from 3.4.7 to 4.0 what doesn't work and messes up the characters.
Octavian Dima Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 It work for me.I converted my old database to utf8mb4.
Mr.Jake Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 That fixed it Even tho after converting 3.4.7 database to utf8mb4, forums showed empty page and wasn't accessible the upgrade went fine and all characters works now on 4.0 RC4 Thank you very much! /Jake
Ignas Malinauskas Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Same problem here. On 3.x i had perfect Unicode UTF8 charset showing up. Database was successfully converted. After upgrade to 4x, i am no longer able to see Unicode UTF8 chars. How to fix it?
Octavian Dima Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Hello,When you start upgrade from 3.4.x to 4.x it will ask you about database type, utf8mb4_unicode_ci and another one (I can't remember the name).
Ignas Malinauskas Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Cant remember now, but somehow i need to find a solution.
