IPS4 Clean Install

First off, I'm skipping the RCs and waiting for the final version.

Looking at my current install, there are files and folders there which are probably pre IPS version 3, but heck if I know what can stay and what can go. If I canted to do a clean install of IPS4, what's the best way to go about it? Could I simply run the installer (when it is released) to upgrade my current installation so the database gets upgraded properly, then install a fresh version in a new directory and copy the configuration files over from the old installation?

Or is it more complicated than that?

Cleaning up your file system will be very easy with IPS4, we will actually publish what needs to stay, however it's going to be pretty simple due to the file system in IPS4 being brand new, so most things will be able to be removed after the upgrade.

To do an upgrade for any IPS 4.0 install, beta, RC or final you will need to disable and, or remove all skins with the exception of IP.Board default.

Disable all hooks and Mods.

2nd for an upgrade you do not want to use the installer... but the upgrader instead..

He do not need to remove skins, neither disable hooks and mods.

To do a clean upgrade, keep Upload and Public Folder (also Download folder if you use that app), conf_global.php and the .htaccess file.
Delete everything else and upload IPS4 files.

After the upgrade is complete, you can delete the Public Folder.

I can't say yet what it is for sure why or where in Wamp the public folder is still needed on the last few upgrades, but on the (live) test site I was able to remove it without issue and do the upgrades from b7a through RC2. So it is either something haywire with this latest install of Wamp or a mis-configuration that has yet to show its ugly head.
