TSP
Screenshots is not and have never (to my knowledge) been a folder created by IPS. The same is true for folders retail and image I think. It's likely a folder you've created at some point. You'll basically need to review the contents of these custom folders and decide whether the contents of them is something you still want to have accessible or not.The advise from IPS on doing a "clean" upgrade to 4.0 have been to not delete the public-folder. As it contains some image files that needs to be present (more specifically in folders style_images and style_emoticons)

It should be retained, in this instance. "retail" is an older IPB 3.0 or 2.3 folder which is no longer needed.
D-rA
admin, cache and public can be deleted.Enough is renaming. For example, admin as old_admin etc. Thus ensuring a return if necessary to 3.4.
