Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted December 14, 201410 yr Can we please have the ability to close polls without closing the topic? This makes no sense. We run contests/polls etc. that have certain durations. Admins have to set a topic close time and then the discussion cannot continue. Also please remember, members create polls too! They constantly ask me how to close a poll. They can't. They can't close topics so they can't close a poll. So they have a little contest or poll and it says "Member A" won, and the next day it shows "Member B."Can we please have this ability once and for all? Thanks!
December 15, 201410 yr Author Thanks. I'm not opposed to hooks for extras, but for what I feel are core functions I want it included. Will it work in 4.0? If not will all the polls re-open? How long will it work or be supported? See where I am going? Appreciated though.
January 8, 201510 yr No hooks for IPS 3.4 will work with IPS 4 out of the box. So if you upgrade to IPS 4.0 then those polls will likely be open (I'm not sure on the implementation details of the 3.4 plugin), unless you install the updated plugin after you upgrade to IPS 4.You would need to contact the plugin author, @Adriano Faria, in order to figure out his plans to update etc.
May 25, 20159 yr Does IPS have any plans to add this basic functionality? Hopefully, if not, lets give this topic more spotlight by adding some post to it . I also want this function "back", since I had it in my previous software and my users used it quite a lot.
May 25, 20159 yr Author Yes.Not only do mods/admin need this ability but users. How can users stop a poll? Polls have an ending. Many are contents, others are research, but most all end.Having to close the entire topic (as stated by IPS previously) is not an answer to either, and giving members the ability to close topics is out of the question. Please let us close polls with date/time! Thanks
