File Name: Linked Accounts - Post As

File Submitter: Adriano Faria

File Submitted: 10 Aug 2014

File Category: User and Social Engagement

Supported Versions: IP.Board 3.4.x

Linked Accounts allows your members to link one or more accounts then quickly switch between them.
You have a full range of options about which usergroups can use the Linked Accounts system and which usergroups cannot be linked to.
The Linked Accounts system could be useful for fan fiction forums, roleplaying forums, or just those of you with multiple accounts (e.g, Alan, Administrator, Forum News).

This version presents the POST AS feature, where a user can create/reply to a topic, or even change the authorship of a post, using a Linked Account. A new setting was added to admin decides which user groups can use the feature.

Nice feature.

However did find one slight issue.

If as an admin you link to a regular member account, unless the group has permission there is no way back to your admin account short of logging out and back in, which rather negates the who purpose of the app :)

You can of course still 'post as' for the regular accounts, just not switch to and back with ease.

Yes, it is like that since version 1.0.0, made by the original author. I want to give some work on it for IPS 4. Anyway, I'll take a look on it.

Actually, it already exists. You as admin can link to a member account, for example, and in that member account, create a link to the admin account. But I agree it could be easier if there was a simple BACK TO MAIN ACCOUNT or something like that.

Do you have any thoughts as to what might be opening the dropdown automatically?

On http://www.nonleague.co.uk/leagues/england/cups/fa_cup/ it is not opened

yet on http://www.nonleague.co.uk/leagues/_/league-football/premier-league/arsenal-r279 it is.

It is not the tabs as they are both the same here.

it is also not just on the database as it is not affected on http://www.nonleague.co.uk/leagues/_/league-football/premier-league/

(I am currently changing the tab script used, but it happened before I changed it on http://www.nonleague.co.uk/leagues/_/league-football/premier-league/arsenal-r27 so I have rulled out the tab software)

So it must be clashing with something on that particular database page.

Any thoughts?

Yes, it is. It can be used as a # or like that... there are a few examples across the board.

It doesn't happen in any other "page" of the board, right ? So probably is a conflict in JS of your code.

Maybe the best thing to do, if you can't manage to fix your script, is disable the hook on Content pages.
