Most mobile devices don't even have a built in FTP client, but most (today at least) support regular web upload fields. We have an FTP class in IP.Board 3.4 (and an updated one in 4.0), but I really don't see how that would be of any use for what you have described. It would be useful for photography heavy sites where you may want to be able to bypass the php file upload size limit and FTP is generally more reliable of a transfer over a weak connection.
