Charlotte Rothenborg
Sorry, if I am asking too dum questions, but I am all new in this ! My members are asking for a 'file archive' as the picture gallery - is that possible anywhere on the platform ? Kind regards, Charlotte
Aiwa
Not sure I understand what you're asking for. What content are you trying to archive, files or images?
Charlotte Rothenborg
Not sure I understand what you're asking for. What content are you trying to archive, files or images? Files - the gallery function works with pictures. Is that possible ?
Charlotte Rothenborg
Anyone out there, who can help me ? What we want is to have a sort of file gallery along with the gallery function for photos/images - is that a feature in IP Board, and if so - where/how ? Best regards, Charlotte
Michael
Do you mean like the Downloads app? http://www.invisionpower.com/apps/downloads/
Charlotte Rothenborg
Do you mean like the Downloads app? http://www.invisionpower.com/apps/downloads/ No, just as a file-gallery, to share recepies, articles etc - not as fancy as the download app :)
Aiwa
You 'might' be able to trick Gallery into letting you upload files that aren't images, but it's likely going to try to run them through GD and the results would likely not be pretty. If you want to share files, IP.Downloads. If you want to share Images, IP.Gallery. If you want to distribute images, without showing them like in Gallery, then you can use IP.Downloads. OR, just use the forums and have people attach what they want to posts.
Charlotte Rothenborg
OK, do I need to buy something extra to use the download app - when I am signed in as admin and try to enter, I am told: 'Sorry, you don't have permission for that!' - and to contact the community administrator, but that's me ;)
Aiwa
You'd need to just set up permissions for your downloads categories.
