IPS Connect Feedback

Our software works, if there is an issue, that is what our support is for, and contrary to your title of this topic, our support it top notch! You won't find support levels equal to ours in many places these days. So as others have mentioned, if you are wanting/needing support for two boards, then you will need to purchase a license for both of them. You are allowed to have a test/dev site, however that is unsupported as also mentioned.

Thank you

But the second website isn't a live site. Its a development board. He's testing the feature with a Live board + a development board. Shouldn't the support at least tell him how to get this working on such a setup so that he can later buy the license for a second board?

I asked about the config of the First site which is licenced.

If the problem was with the 2nd site then I would have ammo to go to my boss and see if he wants to take a punt at it.

I have added the TESTINSTALL thing onto the 2nd board.

I mean I am looking for reasons to give you money IPS ... I need this to work to ensure my investment will be valid!

I apologize for your frustration and expectation of support for two installations of the software for the cost of one.

Note that an offline development license is issued to work on a live version of your site in an isolated environment. Test changes, upgrades, etc. It is NOT to allow you to run a completely separate instance of the software on a public web host on its own domain name -- offline or not. That is an abuse of the license agreement and can result in license termination per the usage clause which states that you are authorized to run one instance of the software accessible by one URL.

You have received bad advice here, unfortunately. I suggest either removing the second install, or purchasing a license. If you would like to demo our software on a second site, you're certainly free to setup a hosted demo from our website.

If you purchase a second license for your new project, we will assist with your issue. If it turns out to be host related or something outside of our control and impacts the ability for you to run the second install, we will work with you towards a refund.

I hope we're able to resolve this for you.

So Lindy, How are people supposed to test out IPS Connect and stay within Licencing Terms without potentially loosing $165 due to an issue?

There's http://www.invisionpower.com/demo and IPS Connect is an IPS module. It works and if it doesn't work for you on two purchased installations, we will make it work and/or help you determine what settings you may have missed. There's really no risk to you.

You would be surprised by the number of our piracy reports that come back "I was going to buy it, I was just testing it" or "I was going to get a second license, but wanted to see if the project was a success first." I'm not suggesting that's what's happening here to be clear, but our policies do exist for a reason.

If the issue is with your licensed board, you need to submit a ticket and explain that. This has been mentioned in this topic already: you get support for your licensed board, not unlicensed ones.

Yes in which is what I asked for at the beginning ... >_<

This is the Feedback forum, you're not going to get support here. If you want support, you need to submit a ticket. You can post here if you want to complain about the support you get if you'd like, but you're not going to get the problem solved by continuing to post in this topic.

Which is once again what I did but when I got the response of we won't help you I made this topic.

Well you're using the product now the way they asked. Resubmit your ticket or start a new one. If the test install doesn't work that's an issue they can help with. It's their installation.

It works and if it doesn't work for you on two purchased installations, we will make it work

Alright to give you lot an update on this,

I take back what I said about the support, I guess I was just going about it the wrong way perhaps,

http://community.invisionpower.com/resources/bugs.html/_/ip-board/ipsconnect-cross-domain-cookie-issues-r42638

That is the bug report for my issue as it turns out I maybe one of the first people to try IPS Connect between 2 domains.

Maybe the topic title can be edited now? It never really represented the actual content of this topic.

I agree although I'm not really in the habit of changing them but having one to reflect the concern would be better.

I've changed it from "Useless Support" to "IPS Connect Feedback" as that seems appropriate.
