Hi Tom,

I just bought this hook but I can't make it work. I can see the wrap if i choose a wrapped style but there are no tabs and the categories are still in the main page.

Here there are some screenshots:

http://d.pr/i/zXfV

In the last screenshot there is where i presume the tabs should have been.

Even with the default IP.Board theme i see no tabs.

I'm using IP.Board 3.4.4 but I don't think it's the problem.

Thank you in advance.

I finished setting it up the way I wanted and Tom allowed me to share with you how I've done it. (Please note that I'm not a programmer, so the way I've done it is probably not the most efficient way)

I would so

attachicon.gifcat2.jpg

then it will be perfect for me :D

That's not possible I'm afraid. It's set to hook to that position of the template on purpose.

You could try looking into changing the hook point but that's not something I support if you run into trouble.

You'll need to customise the margins in your theme CSS file. The documentation explains where to find those files :smile:.

Well I did what someone said in a previous post and edited all six of them and it didn't work for any of them

margin: 15px 0 5px 0; (this puts a little space above / below the tabs so that users can see a separation)

Could it be because we are using your responsive skin?

IPB Responsive shouldn't affect this hook. If you right click and click inspect element on the category tabs, in the CSS pane, it will tell you which CSS file you'll need to work with. You don't need to touch all six.

Hi,

OK now I know i am using theme3

but just ftp'd in to double check and it has the code as below which is correct isn't it?

#tabs {
float: left;
width: 100%;
clear: both;
margin: 15px 0 5px 0;

That is the outer container of all of the tabs. You'll need to edit the margin-bottom property of the #tabs li class.

An example using the above class would be: margin: 15px 0 20px 0; which would apply 20px to the bottom margin.

Hey Tom,

So i just bought this hook and wanted to test it out on my forums. When testing it out, the category tabs are simply not appearing at all... What exactly is going on?

Hi David,

Have you installed the hook exactly as per the instructions included in the download package? You must import the hook and upload the included assets.

Ok just tried your recommendation and unforunately it is still not working.

I have tested in chrome and firefox using the following.

#tabs li {
float: left;

margin: 2px 6px 20px 0px;

}

I even tried switching the 20 to each of the number options and the only thing that changed is the gap between tabs horizontally.

Yes and i even went about reimporting the files and hook, just to make sure. It is still not working for my forum! The tabs just don't appear!

Can you check to see if it works okay with the default IPB skin on your forum. This will tell us if it's a problem with your custom skin.

Try adding margin-bottom: 20px; to #tabs li a

Hi more info.

Your suggestion works fine if you have the tab position set to left.

But it is when you set the tab position to centre that the tabs loose the vertical gap and stick together.

That shouldn't make a difference.

Did you try the following:

#tabs li a {
    font-size: 14px;
	padding: 10px 18px;
	display: block;
    background-color: #fff;
    background-image: -webkit-gradient(linear, left top, left bottom, color-stop(0%, #fff), color-stop(100%, #eee));
    background-image: -webkit-linear-gradient(top, #fff, #eee);
    background-image: -moz-linear-gradient(top, #fff, #eee);
    background-image: -ms-linear-gradient(top, #fff, #eee);
    background-image: -o-linear-gradient(top, #fff, #eee);
    background-image: linear-gradient(top, #fff, #eee);
    border: 1px solid #ddd;
    border-radius: 5px;
    -moz-border-radius: 5px;
    -webkit-border-radius: 5px;

    box-shadow: inset 0 1px 0 0 #fff;

    margin-bottom: 20px;
}

Hi,

Ok that works and looks fine when centered.

But i just checked and switched it to left justified and that gap doubles.

So I am happy but there is definately something that makes the difference depending on if you have them centered or left justified.
