File Name: Embed Tweets

File Submitter: Dmacleo

File Submitted: 18 Jun 2013

File Category: Integration

Supported Versions: IP.Board 3.4.x

for IP 3.4.5
For embedding tweets by posting the link given under the tweet details setting.
do not use the code from the embed option.
for example this link:

shows like this when posted

I will try to answer questions but this should be considered non-supported.
while I will try to simplify into one tag I will not try to add features, etc.
I know this works on 3.4.5, I have no idea about any other version and will not test to see.

UPDATE 4-21-2014
using chrome Version 34.0.1847.116 m I can copy and paste the link normally and NOT need to do anything else, IOW just like FireFox or Internet Explorer.
NOTE FOR CHROME USERS
if using chrome paste link into notepad or something then copy from there.
nothing I can do about that

here to download this file

As I posted on my other topic,

I did this:

do not use the code from the embed option.

for example this link:

" title="External link" rel="external nofollow">https://twitter.com/...210626232156161

And that's how the link shows. I use Firefox, Version 21.0

How am I supposed to paste this? :O

in firefox just copy and paste direct from the url bar and use control-v in editor.

if you want me o look at your acp I can try to see whats going on.

the screenshots shown on the download link were from FF

you install both tags?

not in html mode on post are you?

also what board version?

paste the link and click post then if needed refresh.

if using chrome will need to paste the link to notepad or similar first then then copy/paste that into the editor.

don't copy the embed tweet code.

basically the same way you post a youtube link

in other topic you said you rt clicked then pasted which is impossible with firefox unless you are in html mode.

swap to standard RTE mode (bbcode mode ) then cntl-v.

you get this working?

glad to help, it was really simple but for some reason I could not get it to work on 3.4.4

on 3.4.5 it worked when I tried it so...zipped it up LOL

I was following your other topic quietly where you and the others are discussing this, but wanted to wait until we upgraded to 3.4.5 before I gave it a shot. We're constantly quoting people on Twitter on our homepage articles, so I wanted to be able to post similarly at our forums and this was a perfect way to do it.

I found a way to make this work on Chrome without having to resort to using Notepad. Once you have your Twitter link and you're at the editor ready to post, click and switch to HTML Mode before pasting the Twitter link. Once pasted, you can switch back to RTE Mode and it should continue to work. It does for me.
