Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt November 11, 2024
Ramiru Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Different Description Per Page Page 1: http://community.invisionpower.com/forum/305-pre-sales-questions/ and Page n: http://community.invisionpower.com/forum/305-pre-sales-questions/page-3?prune_day=100&sort_by=Z-A&sort_key=last_post&topicfilter=all have the same Description. If the Titles for these pages were appended with Page x, can we also do this for Description? Link Rel Navigation It doesn't respect SEO-friendly URL settings. next, prev and last were attached with: ?prune_day=100&sort_by=Z-A&sort_key=last_post&topicfilter=all even if using the SEO-friendly URL.

Those are query string parameters - they're not intended to be part of the friendly URL. It is better to include parameters that are designed to change sort options and filters as query string parameters rather than trying to force them into the page friendly URL string. (Granted when the filters are the default values they're not necessary and can be stripped, but that's a different discussion)
Ramiru Posted June 11, 2013 Author Posted June 11, 2013 Is it necessary to be really there? Because when you enter just /page-n only, it returns the correct items anyway. /page-n is also set as the canonical. Maybe it's better to have both canonical and navigation in uniform format? For example, if parameters are required then: canonical = /page-n?parameters navigation = /page-n?parameters or if it can be omitted then: canonical = /page-n navigation = /page-n Anyway, When implemented incorrectly, such as omitting an expected rel="prev" or rel="next" designation in the series, we'll continue to index the page(s), and rely on our own heuristics to understand your content.

I'm not in disagreement there, and is what I meant when I said... (Granted when the filters are the default values they're not necessary and can be stripped, but that's a different discussion) I just feel that's a different point/discussion than not "respecting SEO friendly URL settings".
code10 Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Hello, Can somebody help me with this, please. 1) In which template i can modify this url and exluding the search query string parameters? I only want to make use of "/page-n". 2) Also, is there any possibility to increase the number of thread-views shown i.e. not only 1,2,3,LAST, -> 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,LAST Thank you!
