Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted June 3, 201311 yr Hi, Im trying to find a way that the Moderators of my site can Delete topics or replys but not hard delete in order that i (Admin) can restore it, there is any way? I think that IPB need to add this option to the next update because in my opinion if a security hole because i can have "trusted" moderators but one day on of the moderators can change and start deleting topics like crazy and me (The Administrator) cannot restore it.
June 3, 201311 yr It's already there. You can let the threads be “hidden” and they can be restored later.
June 4, 201311 yr I understood what he was asking for and suggested an alternative. Using the Hide feature can even be seen as superior, since the admins actually see the “soft deleted” (→ hidden) posts or threads including an explanation, why it was hidden.
June 7, 201311 yr One of my moderators misunderstood her settings (she thought she was editing a topic notification list) and hard-deleted a whole bunch of topics. This caused a huge problem. I agree, as in the prior version of IPB, we need an ACP setting to restrict moderator privileges with delete.
June 10, 201311 yr I'm sure you have a great forum, but in general forums have (or at least should have) a very detailed moderation guide for use and ethics.
June 14, 201311 yr With my forum I created an "Editorial Moderator" member group. In that member group I did not allow deletion of anything. Editorial Moderators can only hide posts, and report it to Mod/Admin for review. ;)
