Loren
I just want to thank Matt & company for fixing the issues in the editor. Much improved - and I for one thank you all your hard work (amid lots of demands and opinions). Just another reason I've stuck with IPS for 10 years! Management Charles Posted January 24, 2013 Management Share Posted January 24, 2013 Tons of improvements were made to the editor in 3.4.2 and we will make more in 3.4.3. Please let's not turn a topic where someone is showing appreciation for the work that was done into a "but there's still THIS problem" That is what the bug tracker is for. A big congratulations and thank you for your hard work from me as well guys. We still have more we want to do but it is a huge improvement from 3.4 and 3.4.1 that's for sure :). Every person at IPS tested it a ton.
RevengeFNF
My members are simple hating the Quote System since the beginning. Too many bugs... I can't for example delete a quote inside a quote... It will mess it all. Thats just an example, but there are many more. On 3.3, that was the most simple thing we could do, now its a pain in the ass.

Keep up the great work :)

MisterPhilip
I'm going to be a little blunt here. The "hard work" that needed to be done shouldn't have happened in the first place. I think a longer QA / Beta process should have been done and changes of that magnitude should have been delayed to 4.0. That's in the past now. With that said.. I'm very, very glad that IPS listened to their customers with all the feedback given and were able to jump on it. I hope that they learned from their mistake, and am thankful that they reacted the way they did. I know you guys put in some late nights with fixing the editor, and it is appreciated (seriously!) Hopefully you guys went to the pub after pushing 3.4.2 to take a break ;)

It was very much a team effort, so thank you on behalf of us all. Of course, there's still work to do. If you do spot anything, please post it in the bug tracker. It'll help us all identify the few remaining issues so we can get those fixed in the next release.
darmok1
Does IPS still use CKEditor? I was just curious where the editor issues came from if it is maintained from a third party?

Once you dot every "i" and cross every "t" and than release the product in a user environment, sometimes things just don't work as planned. . .and than the snowball effect happens, which makes recovery even harder. Management Charles Posted January 25, 2013 Management Share Posted January 25, 2013 That's very true  We internally tested every permutation we could thing of while working on 3.4.2. We tried to break the editor. We did - a lot - and fixed those issues. We then pushed those fixes to our site here and asked everyone to test. Many of you did (thanks!) and we fixed reported issues. Finally we released a public beta for download and fixed issues reported there. We actually released 3.4.2 with no open editor-related bug reports. But even so things are expected to come up when thousands start using it in in a real, day to day way. We are on top of reports coming and and have already fixed those and are pushing them to our site here once or twice a day. The editor is really hardening each day so please report anything you find - we are on it
marklcfc
Well it's still not good. I've recorded something (not a great video but you get the idea) very annoying I can't reply to the quote outside of the quote box after deleting some of the quote. My Movie.mp4 Ease of use is very important, can't help but feel editor is over complicated AND more annoying to use now. This is not good for any community. As has been mentioned, please submit a bug report. We are trying to get all of the editor issues sorted out, however if they don't get reported to our tracker then we can only hope we happen to stumble across a mention of an issue in a random topic, which will likely lead to the issue being overlooked. Thanks!
Hexsplosions
I just upgraded from 3.4.1 to 3.4.2 and I'm already very pleased with the results. I need to update my skin to reflect the latest changes, but thus far there aren't any obvious issues arising from using the editor. A very big well done to the IPS team!
