I am struggling to install this... I receive the following message when installing from ACP:

Site error: the file C:inetpubwwwrootForumsadminapplications_addonothershoutboxsetupversionsinstallsqlshoutbox_mysql_tables.php requires the ionCube PHP Loader ioncube_loader_win_5.3.dll to be installed by the website operator.

After researching what VC6 & VC9 are ("If you are using PHP with IIS you should use the VC9 versions of PHP") I have installed the VC9 loaders but I still receive the above error message.

Any ideas?

I would be happy to give you RDP access to my server so you can see that they are installed.

If you replace the file you need to do a hard refresh so that the browser will reload the sound it is nothing at all to do with SB

I deleted my cache and the sound still didn't register. That should have accomplished anything a hard refresh would. I have the sound working now so it's of little consequence. But I wouldn't have resorted to uninstalling it without trying to empty the cache first. I even had member in my shoutbox delete his cache too and he didn't hear the new sound until I reinstalled it.

Maybe this was another strange isolated incident, was just trying to share a datapoint.

How do you use this as an announcement system?

Remove the user name by setting {name} to nothing, turn off @ and : and only allow access to yourself for shouting. Look at JLogica. This is an all or nothing option, on JLogica I wanted a simple announcement system to post small news items like twitter so that's what I cooked.

Ummm .. you do realise that the message is being issued by ionCube in the file in question. It is saying that the loaders are not there it is pretty definitive. You may have put them into php.ini but they may no actually be loading. You do realise that the full shoutbox is not ionCubed?

iirc for WAMP you must use 32 bit loaders and if using zend_extension_ts you need to use zend_extension.

I only messed with it on wamp server for brief time so I may be wrong.

<a class='toggle right' href='#' title='{$this->lang->words['toggle_shoutbox']}'><img src="{$this->settings['img_url']}/shoutbox/popup.png" alt="{$this->lang->words['open_popup']}" /></a>

None of the templates have been changed in a way that would nuke functions. If you (or someone else like the skin person) has changed a template things may be different.

Reinstalling the IBSkin seemed to resolve it. I noticed a post on their forum for another theme similar to the ones I have.

I found this on the ion website:

We've produced a VC9 Loader build for in-house use, and we will be releasing an official VC9 32 bit build most likely within the next few weeks. There is no time-frame for a 64 bit build, however you can use the 32 bit Loader on your 64 bit machine provided that 32 bit PHP is used. Some time later we expect to discontinue VC6 builds due to the VC6 compiler being too old to compile the next generation of the Loader."

We are running on 32bit PHP which has me baffled as to why the 32bit loaders are not working :hmm:

I have them installed into the following location: Program Files (x86) > PHP > v5.3 > ioncube. I have also put them in the root "v.5.3", "ext" location and even in the php.ini file itself displayed like this:

[ExtensionList]
extension=php_mysql.dll
extension=php_mysqli.dll
extension=php_mbstring.dll
extension=php_gd2.dll
extension=php_gettext.dll
extension=php_curl.dll
extension=php_exif.dll
extension=php_xmlrpc.dll
extension=php_openssl.dll
extension=php_soap.dll
extension=php_pdo_mysql.dll
extension=php_pdo_sqlite.dll
extension=php_imap.dll
extension=php_tidy.dll
extension=php_pdo_sqlsrv.dll
extension=php_sqlsrv.dll
extension=ioncube_loader_win_5.1.dll
extension=ioncube_loader_win_5.2.dll
extension=ioncube_loader_win_5.3.dll
extension=ioncube_loader_win_5.4.dll
I have restarted the server but the message still comes up :mad:

been way to long since I messed with wamp so I am struggling here :smile: but does the apache logs show anything about failing to load any modules?

php.ini would still show them as its just showing whats listed.

been WAY to long for me though to be really helpful.

also wondering if having all those is the issue, not running php 51, 5.2, 5.3, and 5.4 on same machine are you?

I love this paid app. Could I make a feature request? Allowing the user to toggle the sound off or on. Versus having turned off for everyone.

That's a good suggestion. The paid sound hook had this volume knob which I miss:

What would be really amazing is if the sound notification could still be active after the shoutbox has time out (so it would be like IRC). That question was left unanswered, which I'm assuming means that this would be too hard to do.

If that's a 3.3.4 skin then we'd appreciate a note in our tracker please.

So the paid sound hook is actually working on 1.3.8 (paid)? And I assume you just disabled sound on the ACP in the actual shoutbox settings? I've been too scared to try this.

Yes I had no problems, I just disabled the sound in the acp and installed it. Just make sure when you do back up just in case ;) Thats what I do before any install. Ive had to learn the hard way.

Managed to fix it! (it was the zend)

Now I just need to figure out the following problems:

1. Formatting shouters names

"Format shouter names? Yes/No

Format a shouters name to their groups prefix & suffix formatting?"

Not working

2. I seems the BBCode feature is all or nothing. When BBCode is enabled and you paste for example a YouTube link in the shoutbox, it will automatically wrap {media}******{/media} tags around the link and embed the video into the shoutbox. Unless your shoutbox is extremely large the video will take up the entire shoutbox and you will not be able to view to video as it will be higher than the shoutbox itself (and wider if you have the Input & buttons over to right of the shouts). All I am looking for is automatic {url}***{/url} tags.

Anyone know of a fix?

Well as a "quick" fix you can manually adjust the shoutbox's size with the mouse to fit any image or video. I'm not aware of any feature that will resize an embedded image or video.

Also, confirmed that the paid sound hook is working on 3.3.8_beta2 (That means you get a better sound and a volume control.)

Just curious how can you move active users list from the bottom to underneath the shoutbox?

You could edit the template 'shoutbox' to move the display where you like, be careful though you could break the page layout.

I was just wondering... Is it possible to create different shoutboxes, one for each category of members ?

No it is a system shoutbox, you can control who sees/posts but there is only one SB.

I was told to let you know about my concerns with this new shoutbox. As some people on here already know I am not happy about the changes to the shoutbox. I was actually told to post in this topic because of my concerns over this new shoutbox.

I do not have the skills to make a shoutbox of my own. However I did try but I was using existing things that are built into the ipb software. such as using the status update to replace the shoutbox. As was pointed out this is not ideal and has many problems.

My issues with this new version are ones that have actually been mentioned by other members in the comments in the market place.

First issue you are charging for work some one else did. That to me is like stealing. It would be is if I took the ips software it self and started selling it with only making minor changes.

Second the free version is ioncubed, which makes making mods for it impossible.

Third the screen shots need updated.

As of right now I am staying with the older version.
